Easter Celebration 2010 "Friends"

Some people have "the holidays" surrounded by festivities, food, and even some introspection. They dabble in silver, gold, green and red and dream of softly falling snowflakes. But I have Easter and spring. I rejoice in the first sun rays that bring up the tulips and warm my winter chilled bones. I smile every time I see the trees break out in bloom. And I dream of Easter. My heart belongs to spring.

Easter has deep meaning for me, so in lieu of Easter baskets and bunnies, we have our own tradition. We create a meal symbolic of the holiday. We select a theme, and each course is designed to reflect one aspect of that theme. We call it our Christian seder. And while this is a secular food blog, the Easter post just doesn't make sense without the context of that heart felt devotion, so here we share our meal and thoughts on this sacred day.

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Sous vide budino, the smoothest pudding you will ever eat



Whew, that was a long month and a half. See we recently moved, and even though it was just across town, moving three kids and seven years of stuff while juggling the rest of life gets crazy. Just for fun we decided to throw a dinner party after I had declared my baking hiatus for the move. I had to get creative of what to create for dessert that would be phenomenal but feasible with the remaining kitchen supplies I had not yet packed up.
